Description

The Uva Mira “The Mira” Merlot 2020 is a precise, mountain-grown expression that balances richness with finesse. Sourced from the elevated slopes of the Helderberg, this wine reflects careful vineyard management and a vintage that favored extended ripening and layered complexity.

The nose is expressive and refined, with aromas of dark chocolate, cacao, and red fruit, complemented by notes of pencil shavings, violet, and subtle savory nuances. On the palate, a juicy core of cherry and raspberry is supported by fresh herbal undertones and a touch of tobacco leaf. The tannins are fine, silky, and beautifully integrated, giving the wine a supple yet structured feel. A mineral edge and natural vibrancy carry through to a long, elegant finish that balances power with grace.

This is a polished, food-friendly Merlot, pairing effortlessly with roast lamb, duck, mushroom dishes, and refined, savory cuisine.
The style of the wine was shaped in the vineyard through careful canopy management, green harvesting, and crop control, ensuring optimal fruit concentration and balance. Grapes were hand-harvested and sorted, with fermentation managed to preserve purity and texture.

Following fermentation, the wine was matured in French oak barrels, allowing for integration of tannins and development of complexity while maintaining the wine’s natural elegance and fruit expression. The result is a Merlot that combines structure, finesse, and site-driven character.
