Description

Lush yet refined, this vintage Chardonnay from South Africa’s oldest wine estate opens with expressive aromas of ripe pineapple, baked apple, and pear. On the palate, a creamy texture is balanced by vibrant acidity, unfolding layers of citrus zest and tropical fruit. Elegant and well-rounded, it’s a classic Constantia expression with freshness, depth, and staying power.
Crafted from hand-harvested grapes grown on granite-rich soils cooled by Atlantic breezes, this Chardonnay was whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak, with 30% wild yeast for added complexity. A touch of malolactic fermentation softened the acidity. Aged for 10 months in 35% new oak, it’s a textured, expressive wine that speaks of Constantia’s terroir.

Winemaker: Daniel Keulder and Shannon Jacobs
Groot Constantia’s revered history tells us how a man’s love of wine established the first wine farm in South Africa. By going back 300 years, we come to understand how 891 morgen of land created the origins of the South African wine industry, and how every owner thereafter contributed to what we know as Groot Constantia today.
