Description

Aromas of vibrant red fruit, earthy undertones, and cool stone introduce this Stellenbosch Shiraz, enriched by subtle notes of ripe plum and a hint of leather spice. The palate is balanced by natural acidity and the signature granular tannins that define the region’s Shiraz, delivering a wine with depth, structure, and a distinctively refined character. Each sip captures the essence of Stellenbosch’s terroir, making it both memorable and true to its roots.
Good long winter, but late rains and cold delaying pruning. Great windless conditions experienced for flowering resulted in a high yield vintage. February temperatures were extremely hot pushing ripening and this made for a quick harvest. Highest recorded tonnages for Waterford Estate.

Winemaker: Kevin Arnold
Waterford Estate was established in 1998 with the intention of producing the very best wines in the country. Being based on the Helderberg Mountain, in Stellenbosch, the Estate excels in producing Red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the main two blending components in their Flagship The Jem. They chose to use only half of the total 120 hectares of their land for the planting of vines in order to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora. The Waterford Way is a philosophy that celebrates prosperity, life, food, wine, family and friends, and guides all that they do at Waterford Estate.
