Description

Intensely aromatic and richly golden, this Chenin Blanc Straw Wine from Tokara seduces the senses with layers of sun-dried apricot, pineapple syrup, and barley sugar. The palate follows through with rock candy sweetness, balanced effortlessly by a bright, natural acidity that keeps the wine vibrant and refined. Luxuriously textured but never cloying, it finishes long, clean, and indulgent. Perfect for foie gras, duck liver pâté, or a decadent crème brûlée.
Hand-picked from a single high-altitude vineyard on Tokara’s Stellenbosch estate, our Chenin Blanc grapes are sun-dried on racks for 3–5 weeks to concentrate flavor, sweetness, and acidity. Once perfectly desiccated, they’re gently pressed and fermented slowly over 35 days. The result is a vibrant, naturally balanced straw wine—intensely aromatic, beautifully textured, and cellar-worthy.

South African Tokara winery, on the R310 outside Stellenbosch, is nestled among vineyards and olive groves on the crest of the Helshoogte Pass with sweeping views across False Bay and all the way to Table Mountain. With elevations of between 350m and 550m, soil profiles are of weathered sandstone and decomposed granite - the combination lending structure, perfume and longevity to their wines.
