Description

A bright, expressive Chardonnay from the heart of Stellenbosch, Moederkerk 2024 opens with aromas of ripe white pear, lemon meringue, and a soft floral lift of frangipani. On the palate, it’s both fresh and layered - zesty acidity balancing out the creamy texture. Expect generous notes of citrus, melon, and nectarine, with a lingering finish that speaks to its elegant structure and fine craftsmanship. This wine offers a refined expression of South African Chardonnay and is perfect for those seeking a premium white to enjoy now or cellar for a few years.
A cool, wet winter set the stage for smaller yields and concentrated fruit. Chardonnay was whole bunch pressed, then 75% fermented in French oak, the rest in stainless steel. We stirred the lees every three weeks and allowed partial malolactic fermentation for added texture. Aged six months in oak—10% new, 20% second fill, and 70% seasoned—to preserve freshness while enhancing complexity.
