Description

La Vierge Story Teller – The Giant Tortoise & The Clever Monkey 2022 is a vibrant cool-climate Shiraz, bursting with bright red and dark fruit aromas lifted by floral perfume, aniseed, and subtle savory spice. On the palate, lush plums and rich dark fruit glide over fine tannins, balanced by fresh acidity and a mineral undertone. Polished and elegant, it offers immediate charm with the structure to age gracefully over the next 5 years.
Nestled in the cool Walker Bay region of the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, these Syrah vineyards benefit from ocean breezes and even temperatures ideal for slow ripening. Hand-harvested in the early mornings of March, grapes were picked in two stages for greater complexity—one block producing vibrant fruit intensity, the other adding spice and savory depth, capturing the region’s unique maritime elegance.

Hemel-en-Aarde, South Africa

Hemel en Aarde, meaning "Heaven on Earth," is known for its distinct maritime climate, benefiting from cooling sea breezes and lower summer temperatures. The region’s Bokkeveld shale soils, with a high clay content similar to Burgundy’s Cote d’Or, create ideal conditions for crafting elegant, cool-climate wines. Specializing in Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Hemel en Aarde has become a heavenly destination for wine lovers seeking refined, complex wines that reflect the unique terroir.
