Description

Elegant and expressive, the Estate Range Pinot Noir 2023 showcases ripe plum, cherry, and violet aromas layered with Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge’s signature savoury spice. Notes of clove, cracked pepper, and coriander add intrigue, while vibrant acidity and fine oak integration create balance and depth. The finish is refined and lingering, with hints of forest floor and gentle spice — a beautifully textured Pinot Noir that speaks of its cool-climate origin.
Each Pinot Noir clone was gently de-stemmed, with 20% left as whole bunches for added depth. After a three-day cold soak, natural fermentation lasted around 10 days with gentle pump-overs. The wine spent an extra few days on the skins before pressing, then matured for 11 months in second- and third-fill barrels. A further six months in stainless steel allowed perfect integration, resulting in a pure, balanced expression of the 2023 vintage.

Hemel-en-Aarde, South Africa

Hemel en Aarde, meaning "Heaven on Earth," is known for its distinct maritime climate, benefiting from cooling sea breezes and lower summer temperatures. The region’s Bokkeveld shale soils, with a high clay content similar to Burgundy’s Cote d’Or, create ideal conditions for crafting elegant, cool-climate wines. Specializing in Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Hemel en Aarde has become a heavenly destination for wine lovers seeking refined, complex wines that reflect the unique terroir.
