Description

With a golden hue and subtle green glints, the 2020 Waterford Estate Chardonnay reflects the warmth of the vintage in both richness and elegance. Aromas of lemon curd and gentle toast lead into a layered palate of honeydew melon, citrus, and refined oak. A vibrant acidity and zesty minerality bring lift and freshness, creating beautiful balance and tension. This Stellenbosch Chardonnay is both generous and precise—perfect for those who appreciate depth with a refreshing finish.
We hand-harvest each bunch and whole-bunch press to preserve purity and finesse. This single vineyard is picked in eight passes to capture peak ripeness and complexity. After overnight settling, the clear juice is fermented in 300L French oak barrels. Four months in, we carefully blend the best components, then return the wine to barrel for another seven months to build structure, depth, and a signature Waterford Chardonnay elegance.

Winemaker: Mark Le Roux
Waterford Estate was established in 1998 with the intention of producing the very best wines in the country. Being based on the Helderberg Mountain, in Stellenbosch, the Estate excels in producing Red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the main two blending components in their Flagship The Jem. They chose to use only half of the total 120 hectares of their land for the planting of vines in order to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora. The Waterford Way is a philosophy that celebrates prosperity, life, food, wine, family and friends, and guides all that they do at Waterford Estate.
