Description

This wine displays a vibrant straw color. Aromas of lemon curd, lime skin, oatmeal and toasted almonds emanate from the glass. The wine enters the palate with bold, ripe yellow citrus flavors leading to a creamy mid-palate. There is a continuous saline focus and feeling of freshness throughout that suggests this wine will age beautifully for at least a decade.

Pair with light, delicate foods like sushi, steamed seafood, risotto with spring vegetables, or mild and creamy cheeses. Also pairs well with sweet, decadent desserts.
Only the free run juice from the best blocks is used for the Reserve Collection Chardonnay. The juice from the de-stemmed batches was racked and run off to barrel for fermentation with selected yeast.

After fermentation, the wine was topped and left on the lees with regular lees stirring for 9 months. 50% of the barrels were allowed to complete malolactic fermentation. The barrels were all tight grain French oak 228 litres of which 42% were new the rest were 2nd and 3rd fill barrels.

The Tokara farm was purchased in 1994 by GT Ferreira for residential purposes, but it wasn’t long before the great potential for planting vineyards was recognized and explored. Classic varietals were planted on the 400m above sea-level slopes. The cool air and low temperatures contribute to the excellent quality of Tokara Wines.

Tokara is a picture perfect destination which offers visitors a unique combination of award-winning wines, brandy and olive oils, a gallery of fine art, a restaurant featuring one of South Africa’s leading chefs as well as a delicatessen. The winery, on the R310 outside Stellenbosch, is nestled among vineyards and olive groves on the crest of the Helshoogte Pass with sweeping views across False Bay and all the way to Table Mountain.
