Description

The High Road Classique 2021 is a beautifully composed Bordeaux-style blend that showcases the elegance and structure of Stellenbosch. Crafted under the guidance of acclaimed consultant winemaker Miles Mossop, this boutique red balances generous fruit with refined tannins, making it equally enjoyable today or after further cellaring.

The wine displays a vibrant dark plum-red color with a subtle brick-red rim. The nose is fragrant and inviting, offering aromas of violets, blueberries, and dried Italian herbs. The palate is rich and layered, revealing concentrated flavors of strawberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant, followed by savory notes of tobacco spice and dried herbs. Fine tannins and a broad, textured mouthfeel carry the wine to a long, elegant finish with just a hint of fruit sweetness.

The outstanding 2021 Stellenbosch vintage delivered wines of exceptional purity and balance, and this Classique reflects that beautifully. Already drinking exceptionally well, it also has the structure to reward careful cellaring over the coming decade.

An excellent pairing for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, grilled steaks, braised short ribs, and mature cheeses.
Each varietal was vinified separately before being matured for up to 12 months in 225-liter French oak barrels, primarily third-fill barrels. This restrained oak program preserves the purity of the fruit while adding subtle texture and complexity without dominating the blend.
